.org, .com, .info, .biz domains

These domains are regulated by ICANN and when registering these domains you are bound by a number of their terms and conditions summarised here with links to the full documents.

Who is your Registrar?

All domains are registered through the ICANN accredited registrar Easyspace. When referring to ICANN documents, you are the Registered Name Holder or Registrant and the Registrar is Easyspace.

Your information

You are required to provide Easyspace & ICANN with certain information,  outlined in clauses 3.7.7.1 to 3.7.7.12 RAA 2013 of ICANN’s Registrar Accreditation Agreement at https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/approved-with-specs-2013-09-17-en#whois , in summary:

the full name, postal address, e-mail address, voice telephone number, and fax number if available of the Registered Name Holder and the name of an authorized person for contact purposes in the case of a Registered Name Holder that is an organization, association, or corporation.

I update that information on your behalf but you are responsible for notifying me within 7 days of any changes I need to make. Your annual hosting or domain renewal invoice also contains a reminder about the information that you must keep up-to-date. I keep my own details up-to-date as the technical and administrative contact; these are the same as my contact details on the bottom of your invoice.

I keep a copy of your details solely for the purposes of managing your domain registration, other services I provide you and invoicing you for my services.  If you terminate your services with me then the only copies I will keep are those required by law, typically the last 7 years’ invoices for tax purposes.

While Easyspace and I are in the UK, ICANN is a US organisation and ultimately it is ICANN who holds and processes information for your domain registration.

If your domain expires

If you do not renew your domain there is a 30 day grace period to reclaim it (the Redemption Grace Period), but there is a charge for this.

ICANN outlines the process in their Expired Registration Recovery Policy.

To cover the Registrar’s fees and my time, I charge £200 to restore domains that have gone into redemption.  During this time your website, email and other services linked to the domain will not work.
